Wood, maintenance and care
The Enginarium only selects the best timber to make your product. Sustainably sourced and in an environmentally friendly way, whether it is domestic, imported, or exotic. Real wood products require a little extra care but look a world different to manufactured materials and can last generations. All our product come with care instructions but some basics are below.
Wood appearance
All timber has natural marks, patterns, knots, and colour variations, and we do our best to show that throughout the pieces.
Finish
Most products are finished with a hard wax-oil that is all natural (made from sunflower, soybean, and thistle oil) and a top coat of mineral oil and beeswax polish
Maintenance
Most items will just need wiping with a warm, damp cloth and a little washing up liquid to remove dust and dirt. Shine can be restored with a little wax polish buffed in a circular motion.
Care
All natural wood will move slightly due to changes in air moisture and temperature. This is perfectly normal and items are built with this in mind.
Food items
Anything that may be used to prepare food (will state in the description) will be soaked in natural mineral oil and then sealed with a beeswax polish.
Damage and wear
Being made of solid wood, even if damaged, repair to the item and finish is possible with little effort, feel free to contact us and we'll make sure to help.
